Jessica Hedrick has been drawn to oil paints since childhood, finding comfort and love in the medium. She has a broad range of subjects she paints, but her focus is on landscapes and portraiture. Her father, the notable Canadian Painter Ron Hedrick, encouraged her early on in her artistic journey. At around 15 years old, Jessica attended her first weekend workshop with Gordon Applebee Smith, who gave her strong encouragement to continue with the visual arts.

She studied art at the University College of the Fraser Valley under Bruce Paschak, who taught her to enjoy the creative process and expand her concepts of art. Jessica continued her education by taking workshops with Canadian and American painters such as Carolyn Anderson, Ingrid Christensen, Kevin Bielfuss, and Dominik Modlinski.

In 2011, Jessica married her husband Dave, and together they owned and operated Rendez-Vous Art Gallery in Vancouver, BC until 2013. Jessica’s love for the art business drew her back in, and she later worked with Stew Turcotte at the Hambleton Galleries in Kelowna, BC until 2016 when she gave birth to her daughter.

In late 2016, Jessica embarked on a project called “The Face of Kelowna,” painting a portrait a day for a year, based on photos submitted by Kelowna residents. The funds raised from this project went directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Jessica Hedrick has also served on the Board of Directors for the Kelowna Art Gallery. Currently, she paints and teaches from her home studio as well as Sperling Vineyards Studios in Kelowna, BC.
